We have some exciting news to share with you about a very exciting day that recently took place at our shoe factory in Earls Barton. ITV, one of the UK's leading television networks, paid us a visit as part of their exploration of the local area's rich history and its unique connection to the iconic film 'Kinky Boots.’
At Barker we take pride in crafting men's shoes using traditional techniques, and our commitment to quality craftsmanship runs deep. The small village of Earls Barton in England has been the backdrop to our shoemaking history, and in the past the spotlight for a world renowned film.
It all began when ITV's film crew, on a journey to unravel the ties between the local community and 'Kinky Boots’, wanted to learn more about the shoemaking industry. Our very own warehouse served as a filming location for the iconic movie, and our Site Manager, Mark, had the unique experience of appearing as an extra in one of the scenes. Mark recounted memories of the film crew bustling through the factory.
During the ITV visit, our team had the honour of being interviewed for an upcoming programme that delves into the connection between the film and the local area. The crew were keen to explore our history at the shoe factory and get insights from our amazing team. Notably, our Production Manager Owen, who has dedicated nearly four decades to Barker, shared his memories.
As we eagerly await the airing of the ITV programme in February, we will be sharing the behind-the-scenes glimpse on our social media channels and through our email newsletter. It's a momentous occasion for us to celebrate our heritage, the dedication of our team, and the history of Barker.
